Together we can make a difference and change lives
Our primary purpose at present is to provide ongoing education and information to our members and the public.
History
The first California painting chapter formed in March 1973 under the guidance of Mickey Lynch to provide a place of learning and a showplace for members to display their newfound talents. We became an affiliated chapter of the international organization, the Society of Tole & Decorative Painters, in 1975. The international organization was subsequently renamed the Society of Decorative Painters (SDP).
As our chapter grew, goals changed and grew as well. Our primary purpose is to provide ongoing education and information to our members and the public. We renamed the chapter in 2001 to reflect these goals and our broader interest in decorative art. We are now known as Northern California Decorative Artists (NCDA).
At the end of 2022, the Society of Decorative Painters (SDP) dissolved. NCDA responded to this event by setting themselves up as an individual painting group with no association to an international organization.
